Advice to get you through the week

Happy Monday, Media Mavens!

I know, I know. I hate Mondays, too. Luckily, this morning before I pound the virtual pavement in pursuit of a job, I was perusing the Web and found this encouraging tidbit at Ed2010. It's an interview with Seventeen In-Chief Ann Shoket. I swear, she spoke to me:

"The job market is brutal. It’s so important to just get a job—even something that’s only vaguely related to the industry—because you need to be learning [...] I started out at The American Lawyer magazine. It wasn’t my passion to write about law, but I learned a lot and worked incredibly hard."

So, I'm heading to Miami later this week (because that's where I really want to be) to see what the Gateway to the Americas has to offer me. I've gone from magazines, to PR, and now I have a friend with contacts in broadcast down there. The question is, could I work in television? According to her advice, Ms. Shoket seems to think so.
